Holden is nine.

Maya has been doing some good swimming. She was on championships this week and placed well. Abe is winning his games. Holden is winning his basketball games.
Adley is picking up speed with her walking.
It was report card time and my grandkids made me proud.
We saw the movie Hugo and loved it.
The fishing is quite good behind the house. Jack caught two fish today that were two feet long.

Shirley and I went to Beaufort this week. We went to a place for lunch that is not open for lunch. Got lost two times. But we had many laughs and a good time.

We visited the tabby ruins of the SAMs family plantation. It is well preserved.
It is in Dataw Island, SC.

Holden had his ninth birthday this week. He is taking friends to a basketball game as the party.

Sadie and Emma went to a museum.

Fridays with Shirley

This has been a very busy week. Life in retirement in HHI is busy. We bought a new HP laptop. I had the tech from the store transfer all the data. But not everything is there. And getting adjusted to a new computer is interesting. Things are different and I am looking for items. Jack wanted the biggest screen for his aged eyes!

The weather is beautiful. We spent many days on the beach. There seem to be as many dogs as people on the beach. It is a dog party.

I bought an iPhone on Monday afternoon at 2:00. It had to be shipped as they did not have one in stock. We joked that they were packing it up as Jack and I drove home. The iPhone arrived on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 from Texas. How did they do that so quickly? On Thursday I took it to the Verizon store and had everything transferred. I love the phone. I bought a double backed cover so the grandkids can not break it. Of course they are not allowed to play with it.
Shirley and I discussed a few months ago, that we settle in HHI and do not leave the island and see the world. So we decided to do something special every Friday. Last week we went to stores around HHI. And we went to help a friend sell items at the mother's apartment since she had died. One week was Beaufort , one week Bluffton, palmetto bluff. Today we're visited a friend in a rehab home with cookies and flowers. Then we went to Savannah. There is a new SCAD museum of modern art that just opened. Ate lunch at a quirky place. Then Shirley said she never had ice cream at Leopolds. So off we went to have kiddie cups for $2.94. Then we walked around the city and drove back to the island.

We have a neighbor that has been fishing in our yard every day. Jack is also fishing with him. Here are the catches of one day.

We visit the sunshine State - Florida

We got home from Ecuador At 1:00 AM of Weds. Jan. 25. The flight was good. The plane was not full and Jack and I each had 3 seats to ourselves. The next day we stayed at Barbara B. apartment. We had dinner with Billie and Paul. Went shopping and Laughed the whole time. We did dirty laundry there to be ready for the rest of the Florida visit.
Barbara and I are moving our bodies in class.

Our first dinner in the USA was hamburgers!

Then we went to Sally and Cliff for Thursday night. We ate stone crabs and veal chops for dinner. Went shopping again but at Costco! We bought the scale to see how much weight we gained on the trip.

Their house in Palm Beach Gardens.

Then off to visit Marilyn and Carl for Friday and Saturday. We went shopping and out to a wonderful Greek restaurant for dinner. Marilyn invited friends and family back to the house for dessert. It was tasty and we were a loud and happy group. there was so much noise. The next day we went to a outdoor art show. I loved the art but only bought something.

Saturday night we drove to Miami Beach for dinner with my aunt Reda and uncle Bert, cousins Marlene and Jeffrey. Aunt Reda had a lare spread of appitizers to eat. We needed them as we were stressed because the drive did not go well. The directions were not quite good and it took us almost 2 hours. Dinner was Italian with the best pasta. i had not seen Jeff in two years and was thrilled to visit with him.

Sunday morning was a send off breakfast with the G. Marilyn has Jack's favorite foods for breakfast. Lox, Bagels and a banana. We packed up our honeybell oranges and got into the car for the seven hour drive back to HHI.
We had been gone 23 days, along with time in Nov. and Dec. traveling. I went into the laundry room instead of the bathroom at Barbara's in the middle of the night. I wake up thinking that we are going on a tour today. It is good being back home. Eating in the kitchen and a normal life.
Jack is busy playing tennis and I am back to my walks on the beach. We saw a movie on Monday and Tuesday nights. We are eating chocolate ice cream at night and life is good.
