The K family went home EARLY Sunday morning. It was so strange having the house empty after 16 days. We were invited to go on someone's boat to the eighteenth hole at the heritage golf tournament. Interesting, you are right there at the tournament but you can not see anything. View from the boat.
We held off any cleaning to the house until all the kids visited. Monday we power washed the house. Tuesday we had the inside of the house painted. Thursday we had the windows, blinds and baseboards cleaned. Meanwhile the dishwasher broke. So we have a new one. We had the gas grill fixed. Friday was the carpets cleaned and an electrician to fix little things. Meanwhile the cable box on the HDTV broke and we had a repairman for that. Next week we are having the dock, deck etc stained. I had a special tour of the SCAD college with Hadasah group. Very interesting to see all the old buildings that have been converted to classrooms. The first building we toured is a 1800 Bnai Brith building. The worship room is still there. They keep as much old as possible. We saw the new museum for black artists. It was fair. We ate lunch at a restaurant owned by SCAD. It was an old pharmacy with Tiffany glass. Tuesday it took Kathy P to the airport where Bernie was life flighted to Pittsburgh. I hope he gets better soon. Here is Ad looking like a model. She learned to say car and her name this week.
We had the Passover Seder at our house with the David Pennock family, Eve and Laura's family. Kathy P came but Bernie was in the hospital with a gall bladder problem. Five pounds of matzoh was eaten with butter, jelly and salt. The house has crumbs all around. There were seven kids looking for the hidden matzoh. So we hid it seven times and gave out money seven times.
I thought jelly beans would be fun to eat. Here is everyone snacking on them. They had to eat one at a time and tell the flavor.
There were long bike rides, swims in heated pools. Thanks to the Pennocks for heating their pool. Fishing. Sand castles on the beach. Shrimp, steak, and lamb chop dinners. A birthday cake for Nathan 's upcoming seventh birthday.

It is the heritage golf tournament this week. So Sea Pines is very crowded. We stayed close to home and all was well. There was the concert with Greg Russell. Mollie was so disappointed that she was not picked , she cried. We decided not to take her a second time. Could not stand to see the heart broken again. Even thought she loved the concert. Abe, Laura and Jack saw the Hunger games. We went to see the headliners concert at Sea Pines Center. No rain the entire visit. Laura and I had a quick run to Tanger Outlets for a little shopping.
Ellen arrived on March 30 to celebrate my birthday. She brought a cake and I had made one for myself. On Saturday eve and family arrived. Sunday Ellen and family left for Disney, to return on Thursday. It was a fabulous week. Maya is the junior MOM. Holden is in love with Adley and also helpful. Adley wants to be held, by Dave whenever he is in seeing distance. She will eat anything except cauliflower. The only issue with Adley is the sleeping. She still does not sleep all night. Many nights she ends up sleeping on her parents heads. We had an open house for about forty people so everyone could meet Adley. She was great with all the guests and it was a successful party. We went to see Greg Russel and ate in Harbour town.
Emma got sick while in Disney. She did not seem to enjoy it. But she was not herself. The VH cames back to HHI on Thursday and stayed until Saturday. So with overlapped with Eve. Sadie is interested in art projects. Now she is crocheting. I took her to a store to buy more yarn and a nice women taught her a new stitch.
Emma has some funny ideas about sleeping attire. She sleeps in her winter boots and her Halloween costume. I remember when Sadie insisted on sleeping in a bathing suit under her PJs.
The company is gone and it is Sunday morning. The next group arrive in five days. Soft shell crabs are in season. Sunday and Wednesday night I made them for dinner. They have a season of about one month to eat. So we are going to have them every night possible. This is my birthday week. Tuesday night we went out to dinner with friends and we had a brownie ice cream dessert to celebrate. The soft shell season lasted for a very short period.
Jack had a birthday this week. We celebrated with friends at dinner. Then went to one house and watched the Sarah Palin HBO movie. The weather is unbelievable. The W visited for nine days and the weather has been perfect. On the beach every day. We have played hard and ate well. Friday afternoon, we had a tour of the Rose Hill Plantation. Well worth the $25 cost of the tour. The new owners have put a fortune into the house. There is furniture and art everywhere. After the tour we had afternoon tea. The owner is Robb White, owner of the Robb Report and other magazines and his much younger wife. I am wondering if they love showing the house, or if they had a change in wealth. And now need the income that the tours bring. The house is soon to be a bed and breakfast. They have weddings and parties there. It was the KIRK family. A Kirk ancestor gave us the tour. Monday was the bike group. We went to Pickney Island Road to see the tulips in bloom. It was the third year in a row that we have missed the flowers. But it was an enjoyable ride. We stopped at the Pickney family cemetery and the same man was mowing the grass from last year. He took our photograph. Then off the Kelly's for lunch. There were twenty of us and many had the Ruben sandwich which is very big and good. Picture of the bikes. The eaters. In the back are Joel and nancy L and Joel and nancy W. All from the NYC area. I guess that was the favorite name in the 1940s. That is the large Ruben sandwich. Tuesday we drove to St. Mary's with Kathy and Bernie P and the W. On Weds. We had an all day tour of Cumberland Island, GA. It is a National Park now. You take a 45 minute ferry ride over to the island. It was once filled with plantations. Then where the Carnegie family lived in the 1880 and on. There are the remaining houses. About 150 Wild horses roam all around. The island looks as HHI looked before it was developed. We took a packed lunch with us and plenty of bottles of water. You can not buy anything on the island. It is a camper and hiker island. But you must carry everything with you. You do not take a bike or car over with you. It is all on your back to carry in and off the island. The P were very relaxed and happy. There are some private homes on the island and a very expensive hotel. That is where John Kennedy Jr. stayed when he got married. We went to the very small church where the wedding took place. A very sad thing to see the spot of his wedding. I stood where his feet were. Eve said, the wedding was a number one day in fashion with Caroline B wedding dress. Off the ferry and on to Amelia Island-for the night. We ate dinner for $9.95 each. All the fried chicken you could eat. Corn, rice, canned green beans, a corn bread and a fried donut for dessert. We then marched to the P large suite for a round of TUMS for everyone. They had quite a lovely bedroom. It overlooked the beach and had the train run in front of it, along with the noise. Kathy brought home two ticks on her body from the trip. After she told us this on Sat. Night, we were all scratching and looking at our bodies. Thursday we walked around and shopped. The town is filled with old victorian houses. The shopping area is all old buildings that have been preserved. Great art stores and antiques. The W bought a painting. The P got three large and pretty candle holders. After lunch we drove to Fort Clinch. It has a nice beach, bike trails, camping. The fort is well preserved and interesting to see, not that I have not seen this before. We had Dairy Queen Blizzards two times during our trip. Videos-- Adley loves the Ipad and music.
