We are in the Strait of Magellan. Magellanic Penguins nest on the island in a colony of approximately 70,000 couples. The is arid has little vegetation. The male is larger than the female. The Penguins arrive in Sept., find their mate, make their home. That being a cave in the ground. Lay eggs in October. 40 days to hatch in November. In January the babies are close in size to the adults. The mother has two babies, eggs. The Penguins mate for life.
I felt an attack of asthma coming on here. Probably all the feathers got into my air passage.
The Penguins covered the entire island. We walked on a path that was roped off. The Penguins would walk through to get to the ocean. We decided that the houses closer in the water were the high rents areas. More desirable as near the water.
The adult is black. The children were brown feathers which fall off as they become adults.
Light house at the peak of the island.
Emperor penguin from Antarctic. Should not have been on this island. Much larger in size and different colors.
They were pecking on each other faces. Cleaning or kissing.
Parents and two children.
One bird standing on the other.
Mother and child bird. The gray bird is the child.
