Sept. 30. Ait-Haddou and on to Marrakech

Saw two movie studios. Many movies are made in this area.
Says Atlas movies studio and Oscar hotel

Kasbah of Ait- Haddou. People are living as they did hundreds of years ago. We started our climb at the bottom. Near the bridge and climbed to the buildings at the top of the mountain. There were dug out houses and paths and halls all over the place.

Bridge on bottom and house on top of area. We walked through streets, houses , across roofs.

We had a tour of a house that no one lives in anymore.
This area is two story.

Cooking room. This was all dug out of the hill, the separate rooms. Dark but cool rooms.

Oven for baking then bread

There were bags full of stones. Do not know why!

View of an area.

I climbed and climbed. I left Jack somewhere at the bottom. He was having a bad day with his stomach. He needed to be near a toilet.

Woman was sitting in her doorway. She allowed us to have a tour of her house.

Front door

Her bed is a stone flat area and a pillow.

Hallway with belongings hanging.

Her new kitchen

Old kitchen

The cattle were deep in the house.

Wool drying. I think at this point, we had walked from one persons house to others. We were going to different floors.

Propane light in a hall.

Look at the ceiling.

Someone's living room

Room with many photos on the wall. I can see this woman opens her house for many tours. There were pictures of her with many people. Her family and whatever.

Sitting on her bed as I left.

Solar panel that has been broken for years. I am standing on roofs. A man came out and warned me to get off. You could hear people in the rooms, behind doors and probably hiding from us.

Used to make wheat into flour.

Flag of the Berber people.

Pictures done with tea. Then you put heat under it and the colors come out.

The artist.

On the top on the medina.

At the top, looking down.

Dry river bank.

This how they make the walls.

Steps

We had two days of travel where luggage was out the door at 7:30 we left at 9:00 AM and arrived at our hotel at 6-6:30. We would get on and off the bus all day to see things.
