Plane ride and early Gotcha Day

We boarded and left Beijing 1 1/4 hours late. No air conditioning on the plane while we waited to leave. I am a wet mess. They served us dinner on the plane, on the ground, which was a first for me. The meal was very spicy. The area Adley comes from is known for it's spicy food. Therefore, they call the girls, spicy girls. So she should be hot tempered. Airforce One was at the airport. I wonder if H. Clinton is in town. We are the only white people on the plane. This city is not a place that tourist visit. I am writing on the plane and it has finally cooled down. We have an eight year old with her mother. She was adopted seven years ago. She is a perfect little girl. Pretty, bright, and so well behaved. Here she will be with adults getting her baby sister, Clair, for two weeks, and she is just a dear girl.

Early Monday morning-- Gotcha Day
On the ride to the hotel, our guide said she talked to the orphanage and all the babies are in good health. The hotel has another group of ten parents from a different American agency received 11 babies yesterday. So, there will be fourteen new babies in the hotel and we will travel with them the rest of our time here. Our " smoking rooms" have a little crib and baby bath in it. Hopefully we can get a new room today. There is an area on one floor which is used as a play room for the babies. We asked if there are a lot of foreigners here. The reply was, yes. Because there are so many adoptions the people are used to seeing us. This is a BIG area for the Chinese adoptions. Looking out my window, this is the China I remember from our visit fourteen years ago. Old buildings, people on bikes and mopeds. I hear a lot of honking but see few cars. I hear music outside and it seems to be smog not clouds in the sky.
I came down to breakfast and all the babies were in the restaurant I was overcome by the sight and took to crying and laughing all at the same time. Some of you know how I do that. There were the babies I have been reading about on the blogs. Beautiful babies and happy and calm parents. They got the babies at 5:30 last night.
