All these people crouch all day. They are homeless.
Store opening.
The homeless are sitting with little fires all around. People sleeping with blankets covering their entire bodies. The food stalls are being prepared. You can get a little meal for 25 cents. There is a drink that looks like a vanilla shake. It comes in a pottery cup. When the person is done drinking it, she just throws it on the ground. The idea is that it will recycle itself. The cup might cost about 2 cents.
Jaipur is called the Pink City as the old buildings are pink. Or they were once. Now they look off pink. There are eight gates to the city. 953 Very small
windows that allowed the women to look outside and see what was going on and a breeze to go inside. Women were not allowed to be seen. Lived separately.
Amber Fort. Unesco world heritage. Built by maharaja Kachhawah Rajputs. It was their capital from 1037-1728. We take a jeep ride up to the top of the castle. You can also travel by elephant.

A man saw a family of five riding on a motorcycle. He decided to make a car that would fit 5 people. Indian people are small and not fat like Americans. This car costs $2,300. But the people do not like it and will not buy it. They think people will see them as poor if they drive the car. It is also made of thin metal. I think you are safer in the car with the metal around you in an accident, than the motorcycle.
Mother sitting side saddle, two kids and the dad . No helmuts on the kids.
The car is called NANO.
Homeless
Street barber shop. He would carry it home every night.
The first two women I saw, not wearing helnuts, riding a motorcycle. You do not see women steering the motorcycle, riding a bike or driving a car. Even though they can.
I saw police ticketing people for not wearing the helnuts. Also towing away the cycles and cars for parking illegally.
Hotel Jai Mahal Palace. A former palace. Very large grounds tennis, pool, an antique car was there for the weekend. Our room was lovely.
We ate dinner at the outdoor Italian resturant. It was cold, about 40 degrees. Too windy for the heaters to work. So they lit fires all around us. It was still cold. Who eats outside in that kind of weather. But we had eaten dinner in the inside dining room the night before. We should have gone back. Dinner was good. And we laughed a lot. One man was all wrapped in a blanket. Not is cold and not a happy camper.
